When you think of small-town healthcare, it’s easy to imagine friendly faces, personalized care, and a close-knit team that treats you like family. And while that’s all absolutely true here at Rooks County Health Center, there’s something else you might not know: our providers aren’t just caring for patients; they’re helping shape the future of healthcare in Kansas.
We’re incredibly proud to share that Dr. Beth Oller, one of our beloved family medicine providers, is deeply involved in several statewide and national organizations that advocate for patients, support physicians, and improve care across Kansas and beyond.
Right now, Dr. Beth serves as the President-Elect of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians (KAFP), which is a role she never imagined would become reality when she first joined the organization in medical school. Previously, Dr. Jen Brull and Dr. Lynn Fisher has also served as KAFP President.
“My involvement with the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians started in medical school. I can remember how impressed I was with the Presidents of the Academy during that time, and thought that maybe one day that could be me, and now it is. It’s an honor to serve the Family Physicians of Kansas as their President.”
Her leadership also comes at a time when another physician with RCH roots is making history. Our former provider, Dr. Jen Brull, is currently serving as President of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), representing family doctors nationwide. Having both past and present RCH physicians leading at such high levels speaks volumes about the kind of talent and commitment that grows right here in our community.
For Dr. Beth, that influence goes beyond titles. She’s passionate about maternal mental health and is helping lead the way in Kansas as a member of the Kansas Maternal Mental Health Task Force, partnering with Kansas Connecting Communities and Kansas Moms in Mind.
“We’ve trained hundreds of providers on how to improve maternal mental health screening and treatment throughout the state. This is an area that’s been very overlooked, and we’re working to change that.”
