Rooks County Health Center is incredibly proud to have Dr. Mike Oller as a key member of our healthcare team. Dr. Oller is a dedicated family medicine physician who brings a great deal of knowledge and passion to our community. He completed his residency at Wesley Family Medicine Residency Program in Wichita and holds both a Doctorate of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Kansas. Dr. Oller’s commitment to quality improvement, chronic disease management, and preventive care is second to none.
Dr. Oller is not only skilled in medicine but is also deeply connected to the Stockton community, where he lives and works. He believes that practicing in a close-knit, rural setting offers unique benefits. “Working in rural healthcare actually allows for, in many cases, faster diagnosis and treatment for many complex medical conditions,” he says. He appreciates how community interactions serve as a “sixth vital sign,” helping him constantly assess his patients’ health and well-being.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Oller has embraced the advancements in telehealth that have transformed patient care. “The advancements in telehealth in the last 10 years have allowed for me to continue to safely and appropriately take care of my patients despite having to relocate,” he notes. Among the innovations that excite him the most is the digital stethoscope. “The fact that we can listen to our patients’ hearts and lungs over such a large distance continues to astound me every day.”
When asked what he appreciates most about working at RCH, Dr. Oller is quick to praise the commitment to patient care that permeates every level of the hospital. “In many hospitals, especially after the pandemic, there’s a sense that the employees are just working for a paycheck, with no communal interest in anything larger than that. However, at RCH, you can still palpate this collective push to improve and enrich the patient experience in every department,” he says.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Oller has a variety of interests that might surprise his patients. “I continue to enjoy photography, and I would like to be better at gardening, but over the last two years, I’ve really found an interest in geology and rock tumbling,” he shares. If he weren’t in healthcare, Dr. Oller imagines he might be a teacher or the owner of a rock and mineral store.
Dr. Oller’s passion for patient care, combined with his deep connection to the community and respect for his colleagues at RCH, makes him an invaluable asset to our hospital and the community. We’re incredibly fortunate to have him on our team, continuing to provide exceptional care to our patients every day.
Thank you, Dr. Oller!
