Over the years, Rooks County Health Center has been consistently recognized regionally and nationally as an innovative and progressive leader by developing or embracing initiatives that enhance quality healthcare outcomes.

2022- North Central Regional Winner : Healthcare/Non-Profit

Awarded for “demonstrating the tenacity, determination and creativity needed to persevere regardless of circumstance”. From Kansas Department of Commerce for creating opportunities to keep the county and regional economies strong and improving the quality of life in our community.

2021- Regional Business Appreciation Award

Awarded for “demonstrating the tenacity, determination and creativity needed to persevere regardless of circumstance”. From Kansas Department of Commerce for creating opportunities to keep the county and regional economies strong and improving the quality of life in our community.

2021- Age-Friendly Health Systems Recognition

Awarded for developing initiatives and implementing evidence-based interventions specifically designed to improve care for older adults. From The John A. Hartford Foundation, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States.

2018- Sepsis Hero Award

Awarded for demonstrating dedication to raising awareness and improving treatment for sepsis, which is the body’s life-threatening response to infection: From Sepsis Alliance. RCH was the first, and so far only, critical access hospital in the nation to receive this award.

2017- Top 50 Hospital in Nation for Lowest Rate of Patient Readmissions

Awarded from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS guidelines use a hospital’s percentage of unplanned readmissions to gauge its efficiency in areas such as preventing complications arising from a hospital stay, providing clear instructions to the patient upon discharge after a stay and ensuring a smooth transition from the hospital back to the patient’s home. In 2017, RCH was ranked 39th in the nation according to the CMS metrics out of the 5,627 hospitals in the U.S. RCH was the only critical access hospital to rank in the top 50.

2017- Award of Merit

Awarded from Kansas Healthcare Collaborative for leadership and achievement in quality improvement and patient safety.

2016-High 5 for Mom & Baby Designation

Awarded from United Methodist Health Ministry for having integrated specific maternity care procedures based on the proven health benefits associated with breastfeeding and other key elements of bonding between mother and newborn.
