FREE Exercise Program:
1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Every Tuesday & Thursday
at Plainville Township Hall (108 S. Jefferson – Plainville)
Rooks County Health Center‘s (RCH) Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, with guidance from the Physical Therapy Department, is offering a free Wellness Exercise Program every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plainville Township Hall located at 108 S. Jefferson. Seated and standing exercise sessions are provided with modifications available for most fitness levels. The class focuses on strengthening and stretching for all muscle groups, as well as cardiovascular fitness activities.
Over the years, many scientific studies have shown that being fit or active may reduce the risk of death from any cause, including cardiovascular disease, by as much as 50%. The benefits of exercise include improving the health of people with type 2 diabetes, especially when an exercise program begins in the early stages of the disease. For people living with Alzheimer’s disease new studies seem to show that physical exercise can help slow the development of the disease and to improve cognitive ability.
The program is provided in a temperature-controlled environment under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or certified athletic trainer. At the conclusion of each exercise session participants enjoy group discussions to include guest speakers on topics ranging from fall prevention to remembering “the good ole days”. So get out, get active, and get to the RCH Wellness Exercise Program.
