Colby Community College awarded Justin Thummel the Clinical Instructor Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award. Thummel, of Plainville, is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Rooks County Health Center located 1210 N. Washington Street on US Highway 183.
Thummel was nominated by a former student whose submission read, “Justin was my first Clinical Instructor and set the bar high. He constantly asked questions and went out of his way for me to fully understand treatments. His patients loved and fully trusted him. I strive to be the PTA he is and have the relationships he has with his patients. He offered help even after my clinical and went out of his way multiple times.”
Thummel, who has worked at RCH for the last 8 years, has been teaching at Colby Community College for the last 3 years. When asked how he manages to balance his work at RCH with the demands of teaching, Thummel simply stated “It all just goes hand in hand, especially when you love what you do”.
Autumn Hoffman, PTA, MS, the PTA Director at Colby Community College expressed her gratitude, “I am very thankful to have a strong clinical instructor that devotes his time, skill, knowledge and passion for the physical therapy field. I appreciate Justin’s sacrifice and trust in allowing students to develop their skills and modeling the importance of delivering high quality patient care.”
Thummel will be one of the therapists moving into the new Rehabilitation Center once completed. Ground breaking for the new rehab center was earlier this summer. It will include a zero-entry aquatic therapy pool and an indoor rubberized track. For more information on the therapy services available, visit RooksCountyHealthCenter.com.
