The Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary (RCHA) recently received the Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas (HAK) “Gold Award of Excellence” at the organization’s annual convention held September 7-9 in Wichita, in conjunction with the Kansas Hospital Association’s Annual Convention. This marks the third year in a row that RCHA brought home gold.
To earn the award, HAK evaluates 21 areas of service, including involvement in health education programs, health related community service, contributions to health career scholarships and other special projects throughout a 12-month period.
We’re proud of all that the Auxiliary has accomplished in the last year. We are greatly appreciative of their energy and commitment to enhancing health care in Rooks County,” said Eric Sumearll, Communications and Development Director for Rooks County Health Center.
Four auxiliary members, Diane McReynolds, Kandie Morain, June Mongeau, and Kathy Ramsay, attended the 2017 HAK Convention. Representing District 5 of the HAK, they shared the responsibility of hosting the convention. They also went forward to receive the Gold Award which was presented at the final luncheon ceremony. Besides the networking opportunities, and speakers, they also came home with new fundraising ideas to explore in the future.
According to Sumearll, the group of 129 members provides critical support for patients and their families as well as assisting hospital employees. In summing up the value of RCHA, Sumearll stated, “Auxiliary members are committed to the service of others and are crucial to the support of daily operations of the hospital.”
A few of RCHA’s projects over the last year included numerous fund raising events, such as a pie sale, Fall Frenzy and hosting numerous linen sales. RCHA raised $10,000 towards the current Phase 2 hospital expansion and partnered with the Heartland Community Foundation to purchase an electronic materials inventory system for the hospital and provide free CPR training materials to families who had children delivered at the hospital.
The RCHA welcomes new members with a $5 annual membership fee or $100 lifetime membership. For more information on becoming an Auxiliary member, please contact Karen Sinclair at (785) – or Diane McReynolds at (785)-425-8393.
