RCH Auxiliary Receives Another Gold

The Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary (RCHA) received the coveted Gold Award of Excellence in Quinter, Kansas, on September 17.  The 2020 Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas (HAK) State Convention was canceled this year on account of Covid-19.  HAK District 5 Coordinator, Shirley VanLoenen, invited each Auxiliary’s president and vice-president to the luncheon/meeting in Quinter. RCHA President Diane McReynolds and Vice President June Mongeau attended the awards ceremony.

The long list of requirements for achieving the Gold Award includes active engagement in health related programs and community service, involvement in health education,  completing numerous required reports, maintaining  a comprehensive scrapbook detailing the auxiliary’s activities and financial contributions to their local hospital.

RCHA’s money making endeavors include trunk shows, pie sales, cinnamon roll sales and the Rooks County Health Center (RCH) Gift Shop. The Auxiliary also contributes to RCH by purchasing safety sleep sacks that are distributed for free to parents of babies born at RCH and making face masks that are offered to RCH visitors to help in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Summing up the passion that RCHA members have for supporting their hospital, McReynolds stated “Our members are highly committed to assisting and enhancing RCH. This commitment includes anything from canning summer produce to serving in the RCH Gift Shop to giving financial support. We have wonderful members who unselfishly give and give. One of our dearest members, Elvera Beiker, turned 100 years old this year. She is still quite active and is a splendid role model for us all! Covid-19 has restricted much of our 2020 events and financial giving. We are anxious to get back into the groove of helping RCH as in the past.”

RCHA is actively seeking to enlist more volunteers and new members. Membership dues continue to be only $5 per year to join local friends and neighbors in the drive to offer the best possible healthcare for Rooks County and the region.
