The construction of the new rehabilitation center at Rooks County Health Center (RCH) is complete. A public reception is planned for November 3 to celebrate the completion of this phase of the current expansion project.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3 at Rooks County Health Center, 1210 N. Washington Street in Plainville. The reception will include tours of the facility and demonstrations of the new zero-entry aquatic therapy pool. Staff members of RCH’s Rehabilitation department will be on hand to describe the services that they provide.
Scott Carpenter, director of the RCH Rehabilitation department said “We’re excited to finally have the space we need so we can offer all the new and expanded services to our patients”. Carpenter went on to note that the need for a dedicated Rehabilitation Center was partly created by the enhanced services that RCH has been extending throughout the county, including providing school services, nursing home and home health visits.
The addition on the north side of the hospital is 11,000 square feet and will house RCH’s Physical, Occupational, Speech therapy and cardiac rehab services plus 4 new patient rooms. The center has its own parking lot and admissions desk.
In summing up the importance of RCH’s new Rehabilitation Center for health care in the region, AJ Thomas, CEO of RCH said, “It is very unique that a small rural hospital can have such state-of-the-art equipment throughout the hospital. Rooks County is very lucky because area residents can have advanced services performed locally without having to travel outside the county. RCH continues to grow, add new services and innovate because the people of this region deserve the best healthcare possible”.
