New Hospital Addition Nearing Completion

The last stone has been laid for the exterior walls of the new Rehabilitation Center being built on the north side of the Rooks County Health Center (RCH), bringing the project down to the home stretch towards a September completion date.

Bill Stahl, RCH Chief Operating Office, troweled on the cement and placed the final limestone brick on the west wall on June 13.

Asked about the impact that the new addition will have on health care in the region, Stahl said “RCH’s Physical Therapy department has dramatically improved the health and physical capabilities of so many people, young and old, in our area. There’s a tremendous need for all the therapies that RCH offers, physical, occupational and speech, and we’re going to make sure that all of our therapy staff have the space and resources to continue their work that is so important to so many people”.

Other aspects of the construction of the 11,000 square foot facility that are nearing completion include site concrete for the parking lot curb and gutter, sidewalks and storm water flume and window installation. Interior painting will begin June 17, immediately followed by flooring and wall tile installation. Cabinetry and counter top installation and landscaping are set to begin on June 24,

One of the main components of the project, the zero-entry hydrotherapy pool to enhance and speed up recovery, has been installed with plumbing and electrical already hooked up.

A grand opening celebration for the public is planned for Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. The new facility will begin treating patients the third week of September.
