See a Physical Therapist – Without a Doctor Referral
If you’re in pain, off balance, feeling dizzy or can’t perform a physical task you previously could. Physical Therapy may be able to help without a referral from your physician. Evaluations are free if therapy is not indicated. If therapy is needed, the initial evaluation is billable through insurance. *Physical Therapists cannot order x-ray or prescriptions.
New! Now Offering Dry Needling
Experience Dry Needling, the innovative approach that helps release muscle tissues and relieve pain without the use of medication. Dry needling doesn’t just treat pain symptoms, instead it addresses the actual cause of pain. Professionally trained physical therapists use thin needles inserted into trigger points to relief tension and restore function. RCH is one of the first hospitals in western Kansas to offer this new service.
New! Now Offering ASTYM and IASTYM
Astym® and IASTYM treatments regenerate healthy soft tissues while removing undesirable scar tissue which may be causing you pain or restriction in your movement. The success of this treatment is that it resolves the underlying cause of soft tissue problems, rather than just providing temporary relief of symptoms. It is proven effective for tendinopathies, scar tissue problems and other soft tissue dysfunctions. In order to determine whether IASTYM treatments are right for you, visit with your doctor or one of RCH’s Astym® Certified Physical Therapists at 785.688.4425.
About RCH Physical Therapy Services
The Rooks County Health Center Physical Therapy Department is staffed by two board-certified physical therapists and three physical therapist assistants, who believe strongly in providing quality, small-town health care. RCH’s staff provides a comprehensive approach to therapy to include not only our patient’s physical needs, but emotional and social needs as well.
In most cases to undergo physical therapy, one should first receive a referral from his or her health care provider. RCH will schedule an initial evaluation during which RCH’s physical therapist will complete a series of tests and measurements appropriate for the medical diagnosis given by the health care provider. The information gathered in the inintial evaluation will guide the therapist in determining an appropriate plan for each individual. The therapist’s main goal is to provide each patient with an individualized home exercise plan that gives the patient the tools that he or she needs to continue therapy at home.
Some of the conditions for which RCH offers physical therapy treatment include the following:
- Acute Injury
- Arthritis Pain
- Back and Neck Pain

The RCH’s physical therapy team provides care for patients on an inpatient basis as well. Hospitalized patients are assisted in transfers and ambulation to increase strength and endurance to prepare them for a safe return home. Patients who have balance problems or difficulty walking due to pain or weakness are assigned and fitted with a proper assistive device such as a cane or walker. By teaching a patient to use such a device properly, our physical therapy staff promotes further community involvement and safety.
